Our company self-performed all civil, structural, mechanical support and electrical support for the completion of a 500 MW combined cycle power generating facility. The civil work, which was self-performed by Peter Scalamandre & Sons, Inc., included all clearing, hazardous soil remediation, earthwork, underground utilities, concrete foundations, final grading and paving.
The electrical scope included underground duct banks and transformer foundations for the installation of all electrical equipment such as step-up transformers, bus ducts, switchgear, unit substations, site and interior lighting, plant-wide digital control systems, interconnection, and power control centers. Included coordination of all utility and agency interfaces, and commissioning support were also included.
Installed major haul road and loading dock for the transportation of two (2) 5,000 ton boilers, which were transported from Malaysia and arrived at the site on a barge.
Other aspects: Coordination of multiple sources of engineering and design documents and a fast paced construction schedule. Focus on maintaining high quality of work and safety record in a high profile environment. Heavy field coordination of multiple trades to maintain flow of work and changing site logistics. Management of a controlled Quality Assurance and Document Control Program, Critical Path Scheduling, and Contractor Health & Safety Plan.
