The General Contract scope of work for this $58M contract for Site-K, No. 7 Line Extension included civil, structural, mechanical and electrical installations for the completion of a Ventilation Building. The civil work, which was performed by Scalamandre/Oliveira JV, and its’ subcontractors included the demolition of the 11th Avenue viaduct between W35th Street to W37th Street, earthwork which included the removal of contaminated soil and rock excavation, underground utilities, concrete foundations, final grading and paving. The structural work included the construction of a fully waterproofed, concrete warehouse, and concrete Plenum under 11th Avenue with an adjacent Ventilation building that has a stone and brick façade with an architectural stainless steel feature, and Louvers at both the Building and Plenum. The work on the interior included medal stair and rails, roof drainage, and the installation and maintenance of temporary power by our electrical subcontractor.
Other aspects: Management of a controlled Quality Assurance and Quality Control Program. Management of a Primavera 6 critical path scheduling system that interfaced with the monthly application for payments. Coordination of our Health and Safety Plan in conjunction with our subcontractors. Coordination of engineering and design documents and a fast paced construction schedule. Coordination with multiple New York City agencies. Focus on maintaining high quality of work and safety record in a high profile environment. Heavy field coordination of multiple trades to maintain flow of work and changing site logistics. Coordination of multiple interfaces from other contracts, agencies, and utilities.
