Our company performed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (“EPC”) for this Electrical Generating Facility including all civil, structural, mechanical and electrical installations for the completion of a 49 MW combined cycle power generating facility. The civil work, which was self-performed by Peter Scalamandre & Sons, Inc., included all clearing, hazardous soil remediation, earthwork, underground utilities, concrete foundations, final grading and paving. The structural work included assembly of pre-engineered buildings and canopies, fabrication and assembly of steel utility racks and access platforms, erection of mechanical and electrical support systems, and architectural interior finishes for plant maintenance and office spaces. The mechanical scope included complete piping and mechanical system installation, erection of a General Electric LM 6000 gas turbine generator, air-inlet filter house assembly, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), steam turbine and generator, and an air-cooled condenser with associated steam ducting and balance of plant equipment.
The electrical scope included foundation installation, complete cabling, terminations, instrumentation, heat tracing, and installation of all electrical equipment such as step-up transformers, bus ducts, switchgear, unit substations, site and interior lighting, plant-wide digital control systems, interconnection with Freeport switch yard, and power control centers. Major balances of plant equipment included a high-pressure gas compressor, electric and gas metering stations, fire water system, station transformer and electrical switchgear and relaying. Included coordination of all utility and agency interfaces, and commissioning support were also included.
Other aspects: Coordination of multiple sources of engineering and design documents and a fast paced construction schedule. Focus on maintaining high quality of work and safety record in a high profile environment. Heavy field coordination of multiple trades to maintain flow of work and changing site logistics. Management of a controlled Quality Assurance and Document Control Program, Critical Path Scheduling, and Contractor Health & Safety Plan.
